Hop! - Coming to Leicester this April

Your all new FREE Hop! service will be launched on 3rd April 2023, looping the City Centre and serving Haymarket Bus Station, Highcross, Jubilee Square, Leicester Royal Infirmary, Railway Station and the Market.

Part of the greenlines electric network with links to Hospital Hopper service at Royal Infirmary and St Nicholas Circle, Meynell's Gorse and Enderby Park & Ride at St Nicholas Circle and Birstall Park & Ride at Savoy Street.

Operating every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm (excluding bank holidays).

Features of the new service:

  • Fully electric buses for cleaner, healthier air quality, helping us to move towards a net zero City.

  • Fully branded buses in an eye-catching greenlines livery.

  • Free Wi-Fi so you can stay connected on your journey

  • USB charging points so you can charge your phone and laptop whilst on the move.

  • Passenger information displays to keep you better informed and improve accessibility.

  • Next stop audio-visual announcements helping to make travel more accessible.

  • Real-time information displays to help you plan your journey better.

  • Text-to-speech facilities at bus stops to make travel more accessible.

The service is being operated as part of an 18-month trial, which allows us to change things that may not be working or develop the route further as we go along.

The service will be operated by a fully electric 9m x 2.42m Yutong E9 bus, which has double doors in the middle to allow for quicker boarding and alighting times. The bus has 21 seats plus a dedicated wheelchair space on board. Wheelchair and pushchair users will need to board and alight the bus via the middle double doors.

The main aim of the trial is to improve accessible, sustainable links from bus and rails stations, and main City Centre bus stops to key destinations across the City Centre such as tourist attractions, the hospital, university and colleges, the Market, shops and theatres.
